Liquid Chlorophyll: Is it Worth the Hype?

Liquid Chlorophyll: Is it Worth the Hype?

Liquid Chlorophyll - the latest trend in the wellness industry promises numerous health benefits, including feeling more energised, cleansed, and mentally alert... but is it really worth it? We've looked into the so-called 'liquid, bioavailable' sunshine in a bottle.

What is Liquid Chlorophyll?

If you have paid attention in Biology at school then you will remember that Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in plants. Plants use chlorophyll to absorb energy from the sun, as part of their photosynthesis.

Although it is currently trending, chlorophyll and its benefits has been praised by natural health therapists for many years. Around 80 years ago, a study of 1,200 people with various conditions concluded that it was interesting 'that not a single of these cases didn't have some sort of improvement.'

The Hippocrates Health Institute maintains that consuming greens should be the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. If you want to gain all the green benefits from whole foods in your diet directly, then juicing is probably your best bet to maximise the benefits behind this vibrant food group.

You might be more familiar with other chlorophyll-filled supplements, like Chlorella or Spirulina. Liquid Chlorophyll is just the latest add-on to join these superfoods!

The Benefits of Liquid Chlorophyll

Chlorophyll meets the three main requirements of inner health; cleansing, restoring, and maintaining of the physical body from a cellular level.

Chlorophyll cleanses and detoxifies

Chlorophyll is considered alkaline and the discussion about alkaline diets and their benefits has been a hot topic for a long time. Although researchers don't seem to all agree on the extent of the benefits, it is clear that eating foods that are considered 'alkaline' can provide many benefits to the body. Dr Theodore A Baroody, author of the book "Alkalize or Die", states “ when you change the diet to more alkaline forming foods and supplements, tissue acid wastes start to mobilize toward the bloodstream and lymphatic elimination channels. And whatever was stored in the tissues... will be dumped into the general circulation for removal.”

This means, you may experience detox symptoms as the healing process begins. These include a sore throat, strong body odour, or even a runny nose, and they will depend upon your current state of health as to the degree to which you feel these.

Chlorophyll restores and rebuilds

The structure of Chlorophyll is almost the same as haemoglobin, the only difference being the centre molecule. Healthy blood is a vital part of an overall healthy and rejuvenated body. Biochemist Lita Lee noted that chlorophyll “appears to stimulate regeneration of damaged liver cells and  increases circulation to all organs by dilating blood vessels. In the heart, it aids in transmission of nerve impulses that control contraction.” In other words: a slower heart rate, yet with increased power, and more oxygen coursing through the blood supply, infusing all parts of the body with extra oxygen.

Chlorophyll harmonises and maintains a healthy body

Chlorophyll blocks carcinogens, so once you have cleared out all the toxins out of your systems, it can support you to keep it that way. As Dr. Brian Clements asserts “Disease cannot exist in an alkaline and oxygenated body.“ More recently, it has also been found that chlorella, which is very high in chlorophyll has an effect on the regeneration and performance of antioxidant Q10.

Quality Matters

Liquid Chlorophyll already is in its bioavailable form, which means its effects are rapid. Be cautious however: Many OTC Liquid Chlorophyll supplements contain sodium copper chlorophyllin, a synthetic derivative of chlorophyll. This allows for a longer shelf life, and albeit somewhat effective, it seems to have also caused some side effects in people.

Other liquid chlorophyll preparations have added flavouring and glycerin, as opposed to a truly pure liquid chlorophyll supplement.

KIKI Health Liquid Chlorophyll is produced from alfalfa leaves and also delivers the healing benefits of the plant, which has been used since ancient times for a variety of ailments. There have been no side effects reported with the long-term use of pure chlorophyll, which makes it a potent remedy for anyone who is missing greens in their diet!
